Welcome to the Boreal Chorus Studio & Workshoppe, the home-based art studio and creative workshop space of Lori Zebiere. Located on 5 park-like acres in what is known as the Eastman region of Manitoba, Canada on Treaty 1 Territory.
You will always find Lori busy creating or puttering around with something. Painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, assemblage, and installation scratch the art itch, but she also likes to get crafty and explore history though the making of nålbound mittens and hats, hand stitching soft sculpture critters and making needlelace. Then there is time spent baking sourdough bread, playing with the pups, wrangling chicken and rescuing the odd monarch. Flower and veggie gardens also catch her attention. There are just never enough hours in the day!!
What’s with the name Boreal Chorus anyway??
I named my home-studio back in 2009 after the—tiny in size, but LARGE in vocal abilities—boreal chorus frogs that serenade their wee hearts out every spring in our little pond and surrounding fields. In addition to incredible chorale talents and adorable cuteness, they come in wide variety of colour phases; from dark earthy browns, warm orangey rusts to shimmering golden tans right through to bright iridescent greens. Each a little froggie jewel has a series of dorsal markings on its back body, and these markings—like a finger print—are all unique, original and one of a kind designs. Kind of appropriate for an art studio, don’t you think!?!
These teeny-tiny chorus frogs can be found hoping through the grass all over the yard and hanging out in the garden April through September, weather permitting.
