A series of works created during the Covid19 Pandemic lockdowns spanning 2020 & 2021. These works were created for assignments for remote learning studio courses taken through the University of Manitoba’s School of Art faculty and delivered by Zoom: Drawing, Drawing II, Materials and Visual Language.
Mediums of drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, installation, collage and assemblage were all explored. The overall general theme I chose to focus on—whenever I could—was my home and the land on which it sits in Treaty 1 Territory. A large personal goal was to try my best to use materials I either had on hand, could reuse, repurpose or upcycle. I wasn’t always able to do it, but I think I managed to get quite creative with stuff that was at hand. I explored themes of farming and hunting; predator and prey; settler and native; manmade and nature.
Below is a small sample of some of the works created during this time. I have recently (April 2024) started working on a series of blog posts to explain each project on it’s own.
